A Massive, Authentically Local Bangkok Night Market
Talad Liab Duan, which translates roughly as "Night Market by the Highway," earns its name from its position alongside the Ram Indra–Ard Narong Expressway in Bangkok's Bang Khen district. This is one of Bangkok's most beloved local markets — massive in scale, genuine in character, and almost entirely without the tourist infrastructure that shapes more central night markets. On most evenings, foreign visitors are truly rare here, and that's part of what makes it rewarding: prices reflect what Bangkok residents actually pay, vendors behave naturally rather than performatively, and the atmosphere feels like a neighborhood event rather than a tourist attraction.
The market sprawls across a large area with three distinct zones: a food section with sit-down restaurants and street stalls, a shopping zone for clothing and accessories, and a flea market area selling second-hand goods, vintage items, old tools, and a wide range of odds and ends. Prices across all sections run notably lower than at tourist-facing markets. The food section is particularly strong in the evenings, when residents arrive for dinner and post-work drinks at the surrounding bars, many of which feature live music on weekends. A small petting area and carnival-style attractions also make it a viable family outing.
The Liab Duan brand now operates a second location at DanNeramit, near BTS Ha Yaek Lat Phrao, which is easier to reach by public transport and features a distinctive fairytale castle backdrop.
