Bangkok's Premier Riverside Night Market
When people ask about the best night market in Bangkok, Asiatique The Riverfront almost always tops the list. Built on the grounds of a former international shipping port dating back to the reign of King Rama V, this sprawling open-air complex along the Chao Phraya River is unlike anything else in the city. Restored warehouse architecture, the 60-metre Asiatique Sky Ferris wheel, and the river at night create an atmosphere that feels both historic and alive — less chaotic than Chatuchak and more scenic than most of Bangkok's inland markets, making it a solid pick for couples, families, and first-time visitors.
Shopping is spread across four districts. Charoenkrung District anchors the retail experience with over 1,000 stalls selling handicrafts, home décor, designer accessories, and souvenirs, while the Factory District leans more toward fashion, accessories, and beauty products. Prices run slightly higher than street markets, but the quality and comfort — covered walkways, river breezes — tend to make up for it. In August 2025, the complex added Jurassic World: The Experience, a 6,000-square-metre immersive attraction and the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.
Food and entertainment are equally strong: more than 40 restaurants ranging from riverside seafood to Thai fusion and international cuisine, plus the Sirimahannop tall ship restaurant permanently anchored at the pier. Calypso Cabaret, one of Bangkok's best-known shows, runs nightly at 7:30 PM and 9:00 PM, and dinner cruises depart from the Asiatique pier every evening.
