Kata Beach's best-value market

Kata Beach's Best-Value Night Market

Most visitors staying at Kata Beach discover Kata Night Market the same way — by following a narrow lane between the hotels roughly behind the old Club Med site and finding one of the better-value evening food venues on the island. It's deliberately not well signposted, which is part of why it's stayed relatively unspoiled compared to the more prominent markets drawing coach groups from Patong. The layout consists of three large covered pavilions connected by open walkways: a food court in the main right-hand dome — unmistakably marked by large gorilla and Hulk statues flanking the entrance — and two further pavilions for shopping.

The food court runs on a browse-and-order system: walk through the stalls, pick dishes from different vendors, pay as you go, and sit at any of the shared tables in the central seating area. Most dishes fall in the 80–180 baht range. The menu covers classic Thai market staples — grilled pork and chicken skewers, seafood, pad thai, fried rice, som tam, and curries — alongside fresh fruit stalls and dessert vendors specializing in mango sticky rice and southern-style banana roti. The shopping pavilions carry the standard beach-town retail mix: elephant pants, swimwear, T-shirts, sarongs, handmade jewelry, carved souvenirs, and spa products, all reasonably priced with bargaining welcome. High ceilings and a spacious layout make it comfortable to explore even on warm, humid evenings.
